ATLANTA—Atlanta Pallet Rack, a national distributor of warehouse storage systems and material handling equipment, just made a multi-million dollar investment in its future. The company acquired a building at 1335 Rockdale Industrial Boulevard.
Chris Eckles of CBRE represented Atlanta Pallet Rack in the transaction. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Atlanta Pallet Rack's acquisition is in line with Atlanta's industrial trends and demand for big box space,” Travis Deese, CBRE Atlanta senior research analyst, tells GlobeSt.com. “The average industrial property size either under construction or recently completed is 596,400 square feet, compared with the pre-recession 250,000-square-foot property. Construction of properties 500,000 square feet or larger accounts for 82% of all square footage under construction."
The 1335 Rockdale is a 500,000-square-foot building that sits on over 40 acres of land. Originally built in the 1950s, it's one of the largest buildings in Rockdale County. The building has seen additions and upgrades over the years.
“This acquisition speaks to the health of Atlanta's industrial market,” says Eckles. “As a supplier to this sector, Atlanta Pallet Rack has now tripled their storage capacity in order to stay ahead of the rapid increase in demand.”
Marty Jones, executive director of the Conyers Rockdale Economic Development Council, noted the continued renaissance of this original manufacturing and industrial corridor in Conyers-Rockdale. As he sees it, the new investment will continue the re-birth of this area—bringing jobs, people, and life to Conyers-Rockdale.
