DALLAS—Water Grill, a California-based, King's Seafood Co.-owned restaurant, will debut its first out-of-state location in Dallas next year.

To be located at 1920 McKinney Ave., just north of Klyde Warren Park, Water Grill will occupy a 7,500-square-foot ground floor space with a 2,000-square-foot patio.

“Our Water Grill team is excited about bringing new seafood products to the Dallas marketplace,” Sam King, CEO of King's Seafood Co., told GlobeSt.com. “We chose Dallas because of its global culture, upscale dining landscape and business-friendly environment.”

Water Grill Dallas will create 150 employment opportunities for hospitality professionals and management.

King's Seafood Co. is credited for launching the oyster revolution in Southern California 30 years ago, and the Water Grill Dallas menu will continue the company's commitment to oysters, along with an extensive selection of seasonal, fresh seafood and prime meats. The restaurant will feature an exhibition kitchen and sea-water tanks that will display a seasonal assortment of live shellfish

The restaurant interior will take inspiration from a refurbished ship, incorporating modern components juxtaposed against rustic woods and nautical accents. The wood used for the flooring, beams and walls will be from reclaimed 100-year-old barns, many of which were sourced within 500 miles of Dallas. A central copper bar top will anchor the space, allowing guests views of Uptown.

The restaurant is located within the class AA 142,000-square-foot office project being developed by Invesco and KDC. The building will include approximately 133,000 square feet of office space.

Water Grill opened its first location in 1989 in downtown Los Angeles, and has since expanded with two other California locations in Santa Monica and the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego.
