ATLANTA—Call it a passing of the baton. King Industrial Realty/CORFAC International just announced a new partnership to continue its legacy as one of the top industrial real estate firms in Atlanta.

Charles B. King, Jr. just sold the majority of his interest in the company he founded in 1980 to six of King's top producers. Sim Doughtie, Bill Johnston, Steve Ratchford, Sally Tennant, Wilson Covington, and Jason McCart make up the new partnership.

The firm will continue to do business as King Industrial Realty. King will remain a limited partner. Terms of the succession plan were not disclosed.

“What's important for the marketplace to know, particularly since so many people know and respect Charlie, is that this new partnership ensures to our existing clients, as well as to our future clients, that King Industrial Realty will continue to serve the Atlanta metro area with industrial real estate services for many years to come,” Doughtie, president of King since 2008, tells GlobeSt.com. “We are known for having the best data in the marketplace and quality industrial brokers to serve our clients, and that's going to continue.”

King was one of the original founders of Corporate Facility Advisors (CORFAC International), a leading network of independently owned commercial real estate firms and established in 1989. Over the last 20 years, King has completed over 9,200 lease and sale transactions of industrial buildings and land totaling 120 million square feet and over 6,000 acres.

“For many years now my voice mail recording has been—It's a great day at King Industrial Realty,' so I can say with all sincerity that I am very pleased that this new ownership group has stepped up to continue serving our clients under the same company name, but more importantly with the same manner of professionalism,” King tells GlobeSt.com. “There are many good people that have contributed to creating this fine organization—past and present, and I am honored that the tradition will carry on.”
