WASHINGTON, DC—Locally-based Create Inc. has launched a property mapping platform called Create Premium, which renders data in a 3D-type format. The company piloted the project in DC several months ago, using data from local and federal governments. In this iteration, users can export data from Trepp to display, for example, all the tenants in a particular building or its mortgage information.
"Our technology gives investors and brokers the capacity to rapidly visualize all of the factors influencing properties they are considering for acquisition... and to evaluate the likely impact of a development, even how it relates to the street, adjacent properties and parcels," said Stefan Martinovic, CEO and founder of Create.io, in a prepared statement.
While there is a clear private sector use with the product -- the free platform has some 4,000 users registered in the District of Columbia alone -- some of the most compelling examples come from economic development organizations. The Washington DC Economic Partnership used Create technology to market sites at the 2015 Annual Real Estate Conference of the International Council of Shopping Centers, showing potential sites to retailers and investors, according to Chad Shuskey, senior vice president, research & visual communications for WDCEP.
In this case WDCEP's research team integrated Create with their own data and mapping platform. "It was particularly helpful to DC team members marketing several large scale redevelopment projects across the city. Being able to illustrate what is conceivable on a site sends a very powerful message to investors you are courting," Shuskey said.
Other DC agencies are using Create including the DC Department of the Environment, the Department of Consumer & Regulatory Affairs, the DC Office of Planning and the DC Office of Zoning. Registered users also include agency representatives in Massachusetts, Michigan, and California even as far away as Singapore, company officials note.
