CRANFORD AND METUCHEN, NJ—Woodmont Properties has hit on a successful formula for its transit-oriented developments. Its Woodmont Station in Cranford, opened earlier this year, has completely leased out, just as the firm has just broken ground for a similar community, Woodmont Metro at Metuchen Station.
With its luxury enclave in Cranford fully occupied, the next opportunity to reside at Woodmont Station will come in January 2016, the firm tells GlobeSt.com exclusively.
“Woodmont Station features magnificent amenities designed for today's luxury living,” says Lewis Zlotnick, president of Woodmont Properties. “With our location in downtown Cranford, demand for the community was incredibly strong, so it quickly reached full occupancy after opening earlier this year. The market really responded well to our location, the apartment homes and the community amenities."
Located at 555 South Avenue East, approximately a half-mile from Cranford's New Jersey Transit station, Woodmont Station at Cranford allows residents to walk to the train and the center of town. For commuters, Woodmont Station also offers a courtesy shuttle van to and from the train station during the morning and evening rush. The property is located just off of the Garden State Parkway allowing access to the state's major highways.
“Woodmont Station at Cranford offers luxury and convenience to its residents while preserving the charm of Cranford,” says Louis DeVos, recently appointed director of property management, Woodmont Properties. “The proximity to the train station, walkability, and vast amount of first-class amenities are some of the key features that have made the community a market trendsetter.”
A property management professional with more than 20 years of industry experience, DeVos joined Woodmont last month to direct operations of its growing apartment portfolio across New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He previously worked for AvalonBay Communities, Morgan Properties, and Bell Partners.
Building on the transit-based community concept, the developer's latest luxury apartment community is located in the heart of downtown Metuchen. Woodmont Metro will feature a half-acre, open-space piazza, as well as with 11,500 square feet of shops and restaurants.
“The perfect addition to our downtown, Woodmont Metro will fit in seamlessly with the character of Metuchen,” says Metuchen Mayor Thomas Vahalla, who joined Zlotnick and other Woodmont officials at a groundbreaking ceremony last week. “From the new shops and restaurants to the stunning high-end apartments, this is truly an exciting time for Metuchen, and a significant milestone in the evolution of our town.”
Located at the corner of Pearl and New Streets, Woodmont Metro at Metuchen Station will consist of 273 residential rental units. The shops will comprise 11,500 square feet. The six-level parking deck will offer 750 parking spaces for residents, commuters and shoppers.
The first phase of construction will consist of the parking deck, which will be built and managed by Nexus Properties.
“It has been a pleasure to work alongside of Woodmont Properties on this transformative project for Metuchen and we look forward to taking the first step to make this vision a reality,” says Dante Germano, chief operating officer of Nexus Properties.
“Metuchen is a one-of-a-kind destination and we're thrilled to break ground on a project that will bring new vibrancy to the area,” says Woodmont's general counsel, Stephen Santola. “With its location just a few steps from the Metuchen NJ Transit train station and in the heart of Metuchen's growing downtown, the property offers convenience and walkability – two key factors that continue to attract long-term residents.”
Before starting construction, Woodmont Properties relocated and developed a brand new facility for the Metuchen American Legion, including a kitchen and meeting hall space. The 4,205-square-foot building was built on property owned by the Parking Authority at Wernik Place and Calvin Place, adjacent to the existing Halsey Street parking lot.
