SAN DIEGO—BNBuilders says it is about to begin construction on the Illumina manufacturing expansion in San Diego. The firm will perform the interior build-out of a new 300,000-square-foot facility to expand Illumina's existing San Diego operations.

As part of the expansion team from the conceptual stage, BNBuilders is providing both pre-construction and construction services to Illumina. The project will include the expansion of the central plant, and the interior build-out of the shell into a manufacturing facility, warehouse, as well as labs, office and general support space. Designed by Ewing Cole, the Illumina expansion is projected to be complete in late 2016.

A global leader in genomics, Illumina applies innovative technologies to the analysis of genetic variation and function. Combining expertise in biology and technology, Illumina's products fuel advancements in life science research, translational and consumer genomics, and molecular diagnostics.

“Illumina and BNBuilders both value innovation, and it creates an exciting and rewarding synergy when the entire project team is assembled,” said Ross Brown, project executive for BNBuilders. We are proud to be part of Illumina's growth, and the continued expansion of the overall life science industry in San Diego.”
