HOUSTON--Skanska USA has been awarded a $21-million contract with Texas A&M University to oversee the construction of the Agriculture & Life Science Building 4. The project broke ground on November 13 and it will be completed in February 2017.
"We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to continue our efforts for this fourth building for the College of Agriculture and Life Science in College Station, Josue Reyes, project executive, told GlobeSt.com. "Delivering this research facility for the college will represent our commitment to build meaningful projects in the communities where we live and work."
The new five-story, 80,000 square-foot building will house the university's Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. The first three floors will include offices, conference rooms and dry work areas. The top two floors will include teaching and wet research laboratories. Kirskey Architecture is project architect.
At more than 5,200 acres, Texas A&M University's main campus is one of the largest in the U.S. The university currently serves more than 59,000 students.
