AUSTIN--CBRE has retained the exclusive retail leasing assignment for 2ND Street District in downtown Austin.

Eric DeJernett and Sergio Negrete with CBRE's Austin office, are the leasing advisors for 2ND Street District on behalf of AMLI Management Co., which operates the shopping district.

The district is home to a broad mix of boutique retail, restaurants and entertainment venues, combined with multifamily residential, hotel and office uses. Bounded by Cesar Chavez, Third, Colorado and San Antonio streets, the six-block district was transformed through a public-private partnership between the City of Austin and multiple private entities in the early 2000s. The first phase was so successful that it spawned further public-private partnerships for the ongoing redevelopment of the former Thomas Green Water Treatment Plant and Seaholm Power Plant along Second Street.

"We have been heavily involved in the downtown retail market for a long time and see the pending expansion of the downtown street grid along West Second Street over to the New Central Library and Seaholm as a tipping point for the district," says DeJernett. "There is a heightened level of activity from both local and national users for the district and we look forward to being an active participant as 2nd Street matures into a true High Street shopping and dining experience."

Notable tenants include Violet Crown Cinema, La Condesa, Jo's Coffee, Royal Blue Grocery, Design Within Reach, Eliza Page, Ann Taylor LOFT, Bonobos, Swatch, Luxe Apothetique and St. Bernard Sports. The 145,000-square-foot District is approximately 94 percent occupied and has several immediate availabilities for lease.

"All of us at 2ND Street District are looking forward to our new partnership with CBRE as we continue to try to attract top quality business owners to the area. Creating a vibrant mix of retail in Austin's city center is our goal," says AMLI CEO Steve F. Hallsey.

DeJernett and Negrete have been instrumental in a variety of mixed-use projects in Austin, including the Mueller redevelopment, Post South Lamar, 6th Street & Lamar and Lamar Central, along with a variety of properties in downtown Austin and South Congress. Most recently, they were also selected to lease the retail market at Saint Elmo Public Market.
