THE WOODLANDS, TX—The Woodlands is getting closer to the debut of its Westin.
The hotel, which was first announced in summer 2014 by The Howard Hughes Corp., is slated for completion in late-February 2016.
The contemporary, 13-story luxury hotel will become a landmark along The Woodlands Waterway, a picturesque, tree-lined canal and path system that winds through downtown, connecting attractions ranging from Riva Row Boat House and The Woodlands Mall to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The cast stone and glass facade, resulting through a partnership of Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects and the Houston office of Gensler, hugs the water.
"After much anticipation, we're excited to be approaching the reveal of a property for which The Woodlands is well-deserving," general manager Mike Speicher told GlobeSt.com. "The Westin The Woodlands will introduce a level of service and amenities ideal for this prime location."
The 302-room property will offer three primary access points and orientations: a porte cochere and lobby entry near the top of Waterway Square Place fronting office towers with ground floor retail; a wraparound terrace off The Waterway and public square leading to a full-floor and 15,000 feet of meeting and event space; and grand staircase housed in two-story, glass cylinder on the northwest corner of the building.
