AMD SANTA CLARA, CA—After considering many options, Advanced Micro Devices , innovator of high-performance computing, graphics and visualization technologies, will relocate its headquarters and research and development at Santa Clara Square. Irvine Company has leased an entire new 220,000-square-foot building to AMD. The building is located at 2485 Augustine.   “We considered several options in the area, but Santa Clara Square offers unrivaled amenities, a dynamic environment and proximity for our employees and customers,” said Denise Gourlay , corporate vice president, global real estate, AMD. “Our new headquarters and California research and development center will best meet our current and future needs, and we look forward to taking occupancy next year. We also want to extend our thanks to the city of Sunnyvale for its partnership over the past 47 years.” AMD will move from 1090 E. Duane in Sunnyvale, which the Irvine Company acquired from W.P. Carey earlier this month. AMD expects to begin relocating employees to Santa Clara Square in phases starting in August 2017, joining Cambridge Industries Group and Ericsson as the workplace community's inaugural customers. “We are thrilled AMD chose Santa Clara Square as its new Silicon Valley home,” said Todd Hedrick , regional vice president, Irvine Company. “It is fast becoming the region's most vibrant workplace community, and AMD's lease builds on the momentum we've enjoyed with our initial office leases to industry leaders, and the recent opening of Whole Foods and Santa Clara Square Marketplace .” Currently, three office buildings at Santa Clara Square are completed, and two are occupied; five additional 220,000-square-foot buildings are under construction at the second phase called The Campus @ Santa Clara Square, and will be completed between the end of this year and the middle of 2017. AMD will move into building four, which is adjacent to a new building under construction for Cambridge Industries Group. Designed by renowned architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners , the 1.7-million-square-foot workplace community features modern architecture, floor-to-ceiling glass for superior natural light and efficient floor plans for maximum flexibility. The campus will also feature two Irvine Company signature amenities: The Commons, an open-air gathering place featuring casual workspaces, the Commons Café, an outdoor living room and complimentary WiFi, along with KINETIC, which blends fitness centers and wellness services. Santa Clara Square's Main Street will add another 40,000 square feet of retail and services, and serve as the community's town center.
