PHOENIX—Seasoned net lease investment expert Michael Carreon has joined ElmTree Funds , a private equity real estate investment firm, as vice president of acquisitions to head up a new Phoenix location. With the addition of Carreon, ElmTree will be able to expand its reach in the west. Having acquired more than $750 million in assets in the last year alone, the firm currently has offices in five other cities across the country and invests in properties nationwide. Carreon brings extensive real estate experience to ElmTree. As part of the acquisitions team, he is responsible for the identification, evaluation, and consummation of net lease office and industrial real estate investments throughout North America, with a strategic focus on the Western United States. Carreon tells GlobeSt.com: "I am honored to join ElmTree Funds at a pivotal moment in the company's growth. I have always respected the integrity of ElmTree's leadership, its established industry experience and proven track record. I look forward to contributing my skill set with the goal of helping the firm achieve its long-term strategic and acquisition objectives in the office, industrial and healthcare net lease space. ElmTree's investment strategies and philosophies have always been guided by the fundamental premise that predictable cash flow and limited residual risk are the keys to creating asset value and I welcome the opportunity to uphold these high standards." Prior to joining ElmTree Funds, Carreon spent the last five years at VEREIT Inc./Cole Real Estate Investments , where he played an integral role in the acquisition of $5 billion of net lease office and industrial assets nationally. His background also includes time with PricewaterhouseCoopers , where he advised corporate clients and private equity firms on complex strategic matters along with real estate valuation arising from mergers, acquisitions and leveraged buyout transactions. "We've had tremendous success investing in industrial and office properties in the Western United States that have strong prospects for attractive risk-adjusted returns over time," said Jim Koman , managing principal of ElmTree Funds. "Establishing an office in Phoenix and being fortunate enough to have Michael Carreon with his tremendous industry insight and experience join our team will help further strengthen our presence and attract additional investors in the western region." ElmTree Funds is a private equity investment firm based in St. Louis, focusing on commercial sale leaseback and net lease real estate markets.
