MANASSAS, VA–Duluth Trading, a retailer based in Belleville, Wisc., has signed a store lease in Manassas, Va. More significantly, it plans to use its Manassas store, along with its presence in King of Prussia, Pa., to push its footprint further east, according to the retailer's recent quarterly results.

Those two markets “will form the initial hub of our East Coast operations and we will have feet on the ground market intelligence to expand from there,” CEO Stephanie Pugliese said during the earnings call.

Pugliese described the Manassas store as “a location that we believed in” and that it open in the fourth quarter of 2016. According to the company's website, the store will be located at 11242 Bulloch Dr. She said, per Full Disclosure's transcript of the call:

We thought that it was a great opportunity for us to start creating that hub of stores as we kind of moved eastward and as importantly, it will give us the opportunity to have two stores in the East open for the full year, full FY17, so that we gain not only the benefit of those stores but additional learnings for that part of the United States and that's why we made the decision to open those two stores.

Duluth trading has three types of store designs, she also explained but did not disclose which type is  being planned for Manassas.  One is the build-to-suit store; another is a more classic renovation of an existing store; and a third is located within historical downtown locations.
