TRENTON, NJ—Walmart says it expects to spend an estimated $68 million in New Jersey during the next year through the opening, expansion and remodeling of 12 stores, and the rollout of several in-store and online innovations.

The spend is part of Walmart’s total capital expenditures guidance of approximately $11 billion for fiscal year 2019, which the company unveiled last October at its annual investment community meeting.

“At Walmart, we’re always seeking opportunities to improve, in every facet of what we do,” says Glen Spencer, a Walmart regional manager in New Jersey. “This multimillion dollar commitment to our stores and technology will provide customers with a significantly enhanced shopping experience, whether they’re in one of our stores, or making a purchase online.”

Walmart plans to build, expand and remodel stores in the following New Jersey locations:

Store Expansions:

Burlington County

Monmouth County

In addition to continuing to test new technologies that transform how customers shop, Walmart plans to expand online grocery ordering and pickup from the current eight New Jersey locations to an additional 13 stores, and will add an unspecified number of “pickup towers,” automated systems that distribute products that customers order online for pickup in stores. Currently only the Secaucus store has a pickup tower.
