Margaritaville to Open $300M Resort in Times Square

The 29-story Margaritaville Resort, brand inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett, is to be developed by Sharif El-Gamal's Soho Properties in partnership with Chip and Andrew Weiss and MHP Real Estate Services.

NEW YORK CITY—Orlando, FL-based Margaritaville Holdings reports it plans to develop a 234-room resort hotel at 560 Seventh Ave. in Times Square.

The 29-story Margaritaville Resort, brand inspired by the lyrics and lifestyle of singer, songwriter and best-selling author Jimmy Buffett, is to be developed by Sharif El-Gamal’s Soho Properties in partnership with Chip and Andrew Weiss and MHP Real Estate Services. The project when completed will also feature several Margaritaville food and beverage concepts, a St. Somewhere Spa, a rooftop LandShark Bar & Grill, pool and retail space.

International Meal Co. food and beverage venues at the Margaritaville Resort will include a Margaritaville Restaurant, LandShark Bar & Grill, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar, Floridays Airstream Café, and an all-new concept, Chill Bar. Retail space is planned for the lobby.

In January, Margaritaville Holdings announced the brand was moving forward with Margaritaville at The Pointe, a $250 million, six-acre development in Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Already under construction, the development will feature a new 150-room Margaritaville Beach Resort, 150 luxury oceanfront residences, a marina, water park, spa, entertainment center, signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts, retail shops, and a kid’s club. The project is expected to begin a phased opening in mid-2019.
