NEW YORK CITY—New York City Economic Development Corp. Presidentand CEO James Patchett says the city is looking to tap into thegrowing blockchain industry by establishing a resource center andlaunching a competition to foster the creation of newapplications.

Patchett, who was the keynote speaker at the CoinDesk annualConsensus Conference at the New York Hilton Midtown today, said thetwo initial efforts are geared to building a foundation around theblockchain technology and position New YorkCity as an “accessible center for the technology center'sinnovations.”
