Syska Hennessy Group to Relocate to 1185 Avenue of the Americas

Syska Hennessy Group, currently located at 1515 Broadway, will occupy the entire fourth and fifth floors of the 1.1-million-square-foot building.

1185 Ave. of the Americas is a 42-story office tower totaling 1.1 million square feet.

NEW YORK CITY—The Syska Hennessy Group has signed a lease deal for two floors at SL Green Realty’s 1185 Ave. of the Americas tower in Midtown.

The global mechanical, electrical, plumbing, information and communication technology and commissioning engineering firm has signed a 15-year lease for 55,016 square feet at the 42-story tower.

Syska Hennessy Group, currently located at 1515 Broadway, will occupy the entire fourth and fifth floors of the 1.1-million-square-foot building. Peter Riguardi, Cynthia Wasserberger and Hayley Shoener of Jones Lang La Salle represented Syska Hennessy in the transaction while Howard Tenenbaum and Gary Rosen represented SL Green in-house.

“The investment we’re making in 1185 Ave of the Americas —a lobby and elevator cab renovation, along with a completed outdoor plaza renovation—is part of our strategy to upgrade our buildings on an on-going basis to ensure our tenants continue to enjoy industry leading amenities, service and best-in-class work environments. Syska Hennessy was founded in 1928 and employs more than 500 across 17 offices. Among some of the more notable projects the firm has worked on include: Cooper Union’s LEED Platinum new academic and laboratory building, Manhattan College’s LEED Gold Raymond W. Kelly ’63 Student Commons, JPMorgan Chase’s New York City headquarters at 270 Park Ave., Governors Island and the Brooklyn Army Terminal, as well as projects with New York-Presbyterian. The Mount Sinai Medical Center and multiple projects with SUNY, CUNY and New York City’s Department of Design and Construction.

The firm joins a tenant roster at 1185 Ave. of the Americas that includes: Hess Corp., 21st Century Fox and King & Spalding.
