NEW YORK CITY—EY will be moving its headquarters, leasing 675,000 square feet at the Brookfield Properties office tower at One Manhattan West. Although originally, the accounting titan had planned to rent 600,000 square feet, it subsequently expanded its space as first reported by the New York Post.

EY appointed Herb Engert as the new managing partner of the New York office. (EY was formerly called Ernst & Young prior to a 2013 rebranding.) The headquarters are currently at RXR Realty’s 5 Times Square. Engert oversees the current flagship location and will continue his responsibilities of overall client services and internal management in the new office.

Previously Engert led the firm’s global private equity practice where he built an expansive team and international network. The New York area offices are home to over 9,000 assurance, tax, transaction and consulting professionals.

“I am honored to be named the managing partner of the firm’s largest US office, and eager to drive the continued expansion of the EY footprint in New York,” says Engert.

Engert brings almost 30 years of experience to the role. He began at Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1989 and came to EY in 2002. The firm continues to bolster its presence in the New York region. In addition to establishing larger headquarters at One Manhattan West, it doubled its space at 841 Broadway.

Previously, Mark Besca served as the New York office’s managing partner for six years. He is now with EY Americas Assurance and the EY Embankment Project, where CEOs from companies around the world share business ideas. Besca expanded the firm’s presence in the local market with the EY Hoboken office and learning center, the wavepace® innovation center in Chelsea and the move to One Manhattan West.
