Rockefeller Group’s McCormick Named CEO of SIOR

McCormick, a long-time industrial real estate specialist based out of Irvine, CA, most recently served as SVP – national accounts for real estate development and investment firm Rockefeller Group International.

WASHINGTON, DC—The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors has named Tom McCormick as its new CEO. McCormick is the first SIOR designee to hold an executive position within the organization.

McCormick, a long-time industrial real estate specialist based out of Irvine, CA, most recently served as SVP – national accounts for real estate development and investment firm Rockefeller Group International.

In that role McCormick’s responsibilities included the development of new opportunities for industrial and office real estate business. He began his real estate career in 1981 with Coldwell Banker Commercial before joining Colliers Macaulay Nicolls, a privately held Canadian-based commercial brokerage company with 85 offices around the world. He served for three years as president of the firm before joining Panattoni as its COO.

McCormick, as CEO of the 77-year-old SIOR, leads an organization that now extends to 48 chapters worldwide, consisting of nearly 3,200 members in more than 685 cities in 36 countries.

“I became involved with SIOR early in my career because I saw it as an opportunity to become an elite member of the commercial real estate industry,” McCormick says. “In the years following, I have seen SIOR grow and advance to become the premier organization for industrial and office professionals—and I believe that we are just getting started. As our industry enters an exciting and unprecedented period of evolution, SIOR is looking to the future, and I am excited to guide our organization in pursuit of that vision.”

Since earning his SIOR designation in 1985, McCormick has held numerous leadership roles within the organization, including as SIOR global president, as well as president of the SIOR Foundation (SIORF) and his local chapter. McCormick has also served as SIOR’s operations director on the board of directors.

SIOR also announced that Jennifer Johnson, CAE, has been named VP of marketing and communications; Michael Topp has been promoted to VP membership and Lizzy Lokken has been promoted to VP of programs.
