JERSEY CITY, NJ—In a relocation move that more than doubles its New Jersey footprint, Vancouver, BC-based online furniture and home decor brand Article has leased 341,000 square feet to become the full-building occupant of 25 Colony Road in Jersey City. Colliers International NJ represented the rapidly expanding brand in its site search and lease negotiation.

The firm will relocate its New Jersey distribution center to Jersey City from a 143,000-square-foot facility in Elizabeth, where it took occupancy just two years ago.

Colliers’ Mike Markey, Jon Tesser and Troy Skibitsky, based in the global commercial real estate services provider’s Woodbridge, NJ, office, and Andrew Lord, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, headed the assignment.

“We selected the Jersey City facility to more than double our previous warehouse capacity and help us accommodate demand from our growing customer base,” says Aamir Baig, co-founder, director and CEO at Article. “Its location will enable us to quickly serve the catchment of New Jersey and New York based customers and beyond.”

Article was just named the fastest-growing company in Canada, and its rapid expansion here in New Jersey illustrates its pace of progress,” says Markey, who with the same Colliers team also brokered Article’s Elizabeth commitment in 2016. “The free-standing building at 25 Colony Road accommodates its immediate and pipeline space needs while providing outstanding accessibility to the Port Newark-Elizabeth.”

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Vancouver, Article delivers modern furniture direct to the consumer at affordable prices. Article’s in-house team works with the designers and manufacturers around the world to source simple, well-constructed products that last.
