CHICAGO—CBRE has just hired away industrial real estate leader John Morris from Cushman & Wakefield. The Chicago-based veteran will join the company in November as leader of its industrial and logistics sector in the Americas.

“John is deeply experienced in supply chain strategy, network design and location strategy and is the ideal executive to help CBRE build on the strong momentum that we have in our industrial and logistics business,” says Jack Durburg, global chief operating officer of Los Angeles-based CBRE. “The sector is changing rapidly, driven by the ongoing strong growth of e-commerce and ever-evolving supply chain strategies. John is the right leader to help us enhance our leadership position and seize opportunities as this important sector continues to advance.”

Morris could not comment directly to GlobeSt.com until he officially joined CBRE in November, according to a company spokesperson. Adam Mullen, who has been named market leader for the Philadelphia region effective on January 1, will continue to oversee CBRE’s industrial and logistics business until Morris arrives. In addition, CBRE’s Chris Zubel , who has overseen CBRE’s industrial group for Chicago, will take on increased responsibilities in the industrial and logistics business.

Morris previously led Cushman & Wakefield’s industrial and logistics business for the Americas. He also helped to lead the firm’s strategy for retail and worked to integrate logistics projects into the service of its retail clients. Additionally, he oversaw the incentives practice, which secured incentives for clients from state and local governments.

Morris is an active member of CSCMP, SIOR, and NAIOP. He received an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and a BA in Economics from Duke University.
