Tri Pointe Teams With Amazon to Build Smart Homes

Housing developer Tri Pointe Group has joined with Amazon to provide smart home features in its new homes.

Tri Pointe Group, a single-family home builder, is teaming up with Amazon to provide smart home technology in its new home stock. Now, Tri Pointe Group will offer smart homes outfitted with Amazon Alexa. The program with Amazon is an extension of Tri Pointe’s HomeSmart platform, which offers technology features, like home activation appointment with an Amazon Expert; Eero Home wifi system; Leviton or Lutron Smart Switches; Honeywell Lyric 2 Smart Thermostat or Ecobee Smart Thermostat; and Ring Video Doorbell Pro, among others.

“This expanded smart home offering currently being implemented across Tri Pointe Group’s six homebuilder brands will enhance our HomeSmart suite of state-of-the-art home tech and automation features to harness the power of Internet-connected devices,” Doug Bauer, CEO of Tri Pointe Group, tells GlobeSt.com. “This collaboration now allows homeowners to activate scenes like adjustment of lighting and temperature, playing music, and much more with voice control. With the addition of the smart home features, we can elevate the homeowners experience by improving efficiency, convenience, and creating a more seamless lifestyle.”

The model will be rolled out across the platform, according to Bauer. “HomeSmart is offered across all six of our homebuilder brands,” he says. “We have more than 25 model homes that demonstrate HomeSmart, activated and supported by Amazon, with more openings over the coming months. To help new homebuyers maximize their HomeSmart technology at no extra charge, the package includes an on-site activation appointment with an Amazon Expert to customize the smart home experience, as well as activation support.”

In fact, Amazon products are already available in the firm’s current homes on the market, and will be available in all new homes. “We anticipate that HomeSmart, activated and supported by Amazon, will be offered at all of our new communities and many of our communities that are already open for sale,” adds Bauer.

These features have already been popular among home buyers, especially for families that see the convenience of smart living. “Buyer reactions across our price points, locations, home types and lifestyles have been positive,” says Bauer. “From busy families, we often hear about convenience and from homeowners who travel often, we hear about the peace of mind, through the ability of checking on their home while they’re away. The features have been proven to meet the needs of a wide range of homeowners across our six homebuilding brands.”

Cost is one of the major challenges in homeowners adopting and buying these technologies. Tri Pointe has been conscientious of pricing constraints, and make sure that the price is offset by the services provided. “Across the TRI Pointe Group family of homebuilders, we carefully research and weigh the costs and the benefits of the included and optional features in our homes, based on what creates the most value to homebuyers and their lifestyles,” explains Bauer. “Smart home features are a key differentiator between other new homes and matches what we find most buyers are looking for. Overall, with the combination of our suite of HomeSmart offerings, now activated and supported by Amazon, we are confident that we are meeting and exceeding buyers’ expectations.”
