PHILADELPHIA, PA—The demand drivers of the emerging markets outside the true Center City core will be a focus of the Neighborhoods in Transition: Exploring Trends in Redevelopment panel at ALM’s GlobeSt.com Philadelphia Conference, says Lauren Gilchrist, senior vice president and senior director of research, Jones Lang LaSalle, who will moderate the panel on Wednesday, February 13, at the Crystal Tea Room, 100 E Penn Square.

Also on the agenda for the session, she says, are conversations about “retailer reactions to the emergence of Market East and why they have been flocking to these new spaces, the role of public financing (including TIFs, empowerment zones, etc), and then how community development groups are playing a role in these outlying areas.”
Participating in the Neighborhoods in Transition panel with Gilchrist are Joe Aristone, executive vice president, leasing, PREIT; Linda Richardson, president, Uptown Development Economic Corporation; and Vince Viney, founder and president, V2 Properties.
Richardson says some of her comments will focus on the Uptown Cultural District in the 2200 block of North Broad Street, and how the CDC and Uptown Entertainment have developed the area. She also expects to make some observations on the role that subsidies have played in the neighborhood development.
The panel is scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. The conference kicks off Wednesday, February 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Crystal Tea Room, 100 E Penn Square.
