NEW YORK CITY—New York City’s first and only retail outlet center Empire Outlets is opening very soon, in April 2019. Now, American Eagle Outfitter has joined the roster of retail tenants. Featuring the brands American Eagle and Aerie, the men and women’s clothing and accessories company has signed a 10-year, 11,031-square-foot lease with Empire Outlets’ developer and owner BFC Properties.

“American Eagle Outfitters is a brand built on over 40 years of consumer dedication and innovation, and that’s exactly the spirit we cultivate at Empire Outlets,” says Joseph Ferrara, principal of BFC Partners.

Founded in 1977, AEO operates more than 1,000 stores in the US, Canada, Mexico and Hong Kong, and through its e-commerce sells to 81 countries worldwide.

James Prendamano of Casandra Properties was the broker for the tenant and AEO was represented in-house.

With approximately 100 designer retailers, a food hall and open space for the public, the shopping center will have a 1,250-space parking garage and will be accessible by the Staten Island Ferry. Located next to the St. George Ferry Terminal, Empire Outlets will feature over 100 outlet retailers. Jockey, H&M, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Nordstrom Rack, Gap Factory and Columbia Sporting Goods are some of stores that will be onsite. Visitors will also be able to dine at Shake Shack, Mamoun’s Falafel and MRKTPL.

The majority of retail and restaurant spaces are leased and discussions with potential tenants are still underway according to the developer.
