Class Action Accuses Nationwide Real Estate Groups of Manipulating Market

GlobeSt.com's sister publication, The Daily Business Review, is reporting that a nationwide putative class action lawsuit claims the National Association of Realtors and four leading broker franchisors of developing practices that stifle competition and allow for hiked commission prices. But the targets of the lawsuit call the allegations "baseless."

CHICAGO, IL—A lawsuit filed in the Northern District of Illinois accuses the National Association of Realtors and four real estate brokerage companies of violating the Sherman Act, a federal antitrust law aimed at blocking monopolies.

NAR and one of the companies named in the suit, Realogy, denied the allegations.

The case was reported by Raychel Lean, a correspondent for the Daily Business Review on GlobeSt.com’s sister website, Law.com.
