Multifamily Veteran Witten Helping Aimco Expand in South Florida

Witten has closed more than $12 billion in multifamily sales. Prior to his appointment at Aimco, Witten served the last 20 years with Marcus & Millichap.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Denver-based REIT Apartment Investment and Management Co. has turned to 40-year industry veteran Steve Witten to expand its South Florida portfolio.

Aimco recently announced that Witten, who was a founding member of Marcus & Millichap’s Institutional Property Advisors group, was named senior advisor to Aimco chairman and CEO Terry Considine. Witten’s charge is to increase in its multifamily portfolio in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

“Steve has long experience and great insight in multifamily investment,” Considine says. “More, Steve is a good friend. Aimco and I will benefit greatly from his focus on expanding our South Florida portfolio.”

Witten has closed more than $12 billion in multifamily sales. Prior to his appointment at Aimco, Witten served the last 20 years with Marcus & Millichap, including as a senior director and senior vice president investments with Marcus & Millichap’s New Haven, CT office and most recently as executive director of IPA’s Northeast and Florida team.

Witten grew up in New Haven,CT and graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1972; and pursued a master’s degree in behavioral psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) program in 1984.

Aimco is one of the country’s largest owners and operators of apartments, with 132 communities in 17 states and the District of Columbia.

According to its website, among its holdings in the Miami area include the Bay Parc Apartments, the Yacht Club at Brickell Apartments in Miami and the Flamingo Point Center Tower and the Flamingo Point North and South Towers in Miami Beach.
