Port of Long BeachCargo volumes at the Port of Long Beach increased 1.6% year-over-year in April, and set a new record for the busiest April in the port's history. The previous April record was set in 2006.

The port moved a total of 628,121 twenty-foot equivalent units in April, compared to the 619,512 TEUs in April 2006. Imports increased 1.8% year-over-year by 317,883 TEUs, while exports decreased 12.7% to 123,804 TEUs. Empty containers rose 13.5% to 186,435 TEUs.

Despite the record-breaking month, the port is trending below cargo activity in 2018. So far this year, the port has moved 2.4 million TEUs, 3.1% off last year's pace.
