Affirmed Housing Opens Latest Project in San Diego

A former Motel 6, Zephyr will provide supportive housing to homeless veterans with 84 low-income units.

Affirmed Housing celebrated the completion its latest project Zephyr with a grand opening ceremony. The project transformed a former Motel 6 into supportive housing for veterans. Located at 4380 Alvarado Canyon Road in San Diego, it features 84 units for both low-income and homeless veterans earning 30% to 40% of the total area income.

Affirmed Housing completely remodeled the facility, updating the building systems and making enhancements to aesthetics, accessibility and sustainability. The developer also updated unit interiors, including bathrooms and new flooring, walls and kitchenettes.

Attendees to the grand opening event, held yesterday, included Councilman Scott Sherman of the City of San Diego; Keith Boylan, deputy secretary of the California Department of Veteran Affairs; Richard Gentry, president of the San Diego Housing Commission; James Silverwood, president of Affirmed Housing; and Jonathan Castillo, regional director at PATH.
