Kimmerle Newman earned the New Good Neighbor Award for its design of biotech firm SCYNEXIS's headquarters space in Jersey City, NJ.

JERSEY CITY, NJ—The New Jersey Business & Industry Association has bestowed Harding Township, NJ-based Kimmerle Newman Architects with its “New Good Neighbor Award” for the firm's design of SCYNEXIS's new headquarters at the One Evertrust Plaza office building here.

The architectural firm. which also has operations based in New York City, earned the honor from the trade group for its design and furnishing of the entire 13^th floor for the fledgling biotech company.

SCYNEXIS recruited Kimmerle Group to furnish, brand and interior design the entirety of the office space and plan ahead for the company's future growth. KNA worked closely with CBRE to find the right location and build it out accordingly.

Proximity to New York and access to natural light played the biggest role in the company's' decision to move to One Evertrust Plaza in Jersey City. Due to the building's unique smaller rectangular footprint, Kimmerle was able to design the entire floor for SCYNEXIS and achieved the ideal amount of natural light throughout the office by creating interior glass front offices and putting work areas, a lounge, and meeting rooms along the windows, company officials state.

The office setting allowed for panoramic views of Downtown New York City throughout the office. The space that Kimmerle designed is completely thought through from top to bottom with the branding of the space featuring the colors and value statements of SCYNEXIS. Feng shui principles were also used for balance and harmony in the space. The four conference rooms on the four corners of the space are named Fire, Ice, Water, and Earth recognizing the balance of the key elements.

“By strategically finding the optimal space for SCYNEXIS, we were able to keep the company's culture intact by providing a collegial atmosphere,” says Paul Newman, VP and partner of Kimmerle Newman Architects. “There is a large central common area right off the lobby which is central to the entire office for gatherings, meetings, working, and dining. The space is big enough to have multiple activities going on, but also has the flexibility and functionality so that it can work for events and townhalls for the full staff.”

Kimmerle Newman Architect's 111 Littleton Road, a three story, 36,389 square-foot office building located in the heart of Parsippany, NJ was converted from a tired Class C building into a modern Class A structure, and was nominated and won a Good Neighbor Award from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association as well.
