WALTHAM, MA—The Massachusetts Association of Realtors reports that it has completed a five-and-a-half-month nationwide search with the appointment of Theresa Hatton, CAE, RCE as its new CEO and executive vice president.

Hatton, who will assume the leadership of MAR on June 3, comes to the association from the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors of White Plains, NY where she currently serves as its director of professional development and industry relations. She joined HGAR in July 2018.

Hatton replaces Robert N. Authier, who left MAR in November 2018 after 23 years of leading the association.

Previously Hatton served as the CEO of the Greenwich (CT) Association of Realtors for eight years and was the association executive at the Williamson County Association of Realtors in Franklin, TN for nearly four years.

Hatton holds both the Realtor Certified Executive (RCE) and Certified Association Executive (CAE) designations. She served as the chair of the National Association of Realtors Association Executives Committee – AE Institute Advisory Board in 2016 and received the NAR AE Leaders of Tomorrow Young Professionals Award.

“This is an exciting day for both the membership and the professional staff of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors,” says 2019 MAR President Anne Meczywor, broker/associate at Roberts & Associates Realty Inc. in Lenox, MA. “Through multiple rounds of interviews, Theresa proved to be the most outstanding candidate out of a group of outstanding candidates.”

As MAR CEO and EVP, Hatton will oversee the implementation of all association activities and services in accordance with the MAR strategic plan; provide advice and counsel to the state’s 13 local Realtor associations; and manage the association’s finances in conjunction with MAR’s treasurer. In addition, she will help develop the association’s goals, objectives and related policies; act as an MAR spokesperson; coordinate and supervise the activities of MAR’s professional staff and serve on MAR’s Executive Committee and New England Realtors Committee.

“MAR is one of the top state Realtor associations in the country and I look forward to working with its volunteer leaders and professional staff to not only maintain its excellence, but also push it higher,” Hatton says.
