Long Beach is slowly but surely moving out of Los Angeles'shadow. The ongoing renaissance may be overdue, but it is pickingup steam. This year, 1,500 apartment units are scheduled fordelivery in Downtown Long Beach along with 38,000 square feet ofcommercial space, and the construction pipeline is continuing togrow. The city is supporting the growth as well with infrastructureupdates and renovation plans for government buildings. All in all,it means big changes for the market.

Long Beach, which has long been in the shadow of L.A., isexperiencing a much-overdue renaissance,” HollyNeber, CEO of AEI Consultants, tellsGlobeSt.com. “The Long Beach Aquarium is completing a $53 millionexpansion wing, and the City is finishing a new Civic Center thatincludes a new City Hall and Main Library in 2019. Additionalproposed development in the downtown area reportedly includesapproximately 1,100 residential units and more than 38,000 squarefeet of commercial space.”
