Joseph A. Cabrera Joins CBRE as Vice Chairman, Advisory & Transactions

The industry veteran is bringing his team of four partners from Colliers

NEW YORK CITY—CBRE has recruited a team of five real estate pros from Colliers International. Joseph A. Cabrera is joining CBRE as vice chairman in the advisory & transactions unit in the New York City office. His four partners, David Glassman, Michael Gordon, Timothy Kuhn and Brendan Cavender, are joining him in the move.

Cabrera comes from Colliers International, where he was the vice chairman of the Eastern region. Previously, he also served as vice chairman at Cushman & Wakefield, executive managing direct at Insignia/ESG, and Northeast regional president at the Galbreath Company.

Based in the New York office, Glassman was appointed EVP and Cavender, SVP. They’ll focus on tenant and agency representation. Gordon, as an EVP will be based in CT, and Kuhn, also an EVP will work in Philadelphia and NJ.

With more than 30 years of experience, Cabrera has completed more than 4,000 transactions, totaling over 50 million square feet in 250 cities around the world. Highlights of some of his recent deals include representing Bank of Montreal in its move to 151 W. 42nd St., law firm Sidley Austin’s long-term lease restructuring at 787 Seventh Ave., and Campari’s North American’s relocation of its headquarters from San Francisco to New York City.

He received REBNY’s Most Ingenious Deal of the Year Award for Thomson Reuters’ joint venture development at 3 Times Square. He was always honored with NAIOP Deal of the Year Awards, for Citicorp North America’s relocation from New York City to Stamford, CT and for the FactSet Research Systems’ headquarters lease in Norwalk, CT.

Cabrera received his BA from Columbia College and JD from Temple Law School. His philanthropy includes serving as vice chair of the board of directors of the United Way of New York City.
