Alexandria Center for Life Science - New York City

NEW YORK CITY—Alexandria Real Estate Equities and Columbia University are opening Alexandria LaunchLabs®, a life science startup platform at the university in the spring of 2020. Building upon the flagship Alexandria LaunchLabs site at the Alexandria Center® for Life Science – New York City, the center at Columbia will focus on life science startups spinning from Columbia and other renowned peer institutions. It will aim to serve as a source of new company formation in the city's life science ecosystem.

Since the opening of the Alexandria LaunchLabs at the Alexandria Center for Life Science – NYC in June 2017, its member companies have collectively raised more than $300 million in financing with two of its companies completing IPOs.

Located on Columbia's Washington Heights campus, adjacent to Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Alexandria LaunchLabs @ Columbia will be the second LaunchLabs site in New York City. The space will offer member companies 14,000 rentable square feet of flexible, turnkey office and laboratory space.

The program will help establish mentorships and provide access to Alexandria's network, as well as strategic investment capital through the Alexandria Seed Capital Platform, the company's seed-stage funding model. Open and collaborative space will feature a high-tech event center to host workshops, networking events and educational opportunities for the entrepreneurial life science community in Upper Manhattan.
