KANSAS CITY, MO—National workspace provider Industrious has expanded its national network to the Kansas City market by leasing 30,000 square feet of space at the massive Country Club Plaza mixed-use district here.

While the deal is the Brooklyn-based firm’s first in Kansas City, that is not the case with property owners Macerich and Taubman. This is Industrious’ third location with Macerich. The two opened at Fashion Square in Scottsdale, AZ and in late April they additionally announced plans to open a new 36,000-square-foot location at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, CA. This is Industrious’ second location with Taubman; the two previously announced plans to open in The Mall at Short Hills in Milburn, NJ.

“Kansas City is a dominant market in the Silicon Prairie. As one of the largest and fastest-growing tech hubs in North America, it made sense for Industrious to have a presence in the region,” says Justin Stewart, president and co-founder of Industrious.  “Our existing relationships with Macerich and Taubman led us to Country Club Plaza, a highly-amenitized and desirable area that our members will love. We look forward to supporting the ongoing growth of companies across Kansas City.”

Industrious Country Club Plaza will offer co-working and private offices for teams of various sizes. The new location in Kansas City is expected to open for business in the third quarter of this year. Country Club Plaza is a15-block mixed-use district with more than 100 shops and 30 restaurants co-owned by Macerich and Taubman.

Originally constructed in 1922, Country Club Plaza is a 1.3 million-square-foot mixed-use retail property that includes 804,000 square feet of gross leasing area featuring retailers such as Apple, Kate Spade New York, Charlie Hustle, HMK, Tesla and Lululemon, as well as a mix of restaurants, including The Capital Grille, Rye and Parkway Social Kitchen.

“The addition of Industrious further solidifies our position as the market-dominant shopping center,” says Meredith Keeler, general manager at Country Club Plaza. “Our patient curation of new tenants for the plaza continues to create excitement and expand our customer base.”

Industrious already has a presence in the Midwest with multiple locations in Chicago.

One of its most recent deals was its entrance into the City of Philadelphia. Late last month the firm announced plans to take two full floors totaling 55,000 square feet of space at the Two Liberty Place office tower.
