KING OF PRUSSIA, PA—Jonathan Morgan, president of locally-based apartment owner and operator Morgan Properties, has won the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2019 award in the family business category for Greater Philadelphia and is now eligible for possible national honors.

The EY Entrepreneur Of the Year award recognizes entrepreneurs who excel in innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, while also transforming the world. Morgan was selected by an independent panel of judges. The award was presented at a gala event at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on June 19.

“It is an honor to be recognized as an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year,” Morgan said. “I have always aspired to leverage off our strong foundation, successful track record, and talented team to take our business to the next level. Following the example set by my father, I am excited to maintain our family legacy and take our company to new heights. Morgan Properties is a best-in-class multifamily owner/operator that continues to get better with every acquisition.”

He added that the firm has experienced” tremendous growth in every aspect of the business over the past year, and this award further solidifies that we are headed in the right direction. I look forward to celebrating this achievement with the rest of the winners at the national award ceremony.”

Under Jonathan Morgan’s leadership, Morgan Properties has acquired more than $5 billion of real estate comprised of more than 30,000 apartment units.

Earlier this year, Morgan Properties became Pennsylvania’s largest multifamily owner and operator following its historic portfolio acquisition of 10 apartment communities with 4,130 apartments spanning Philadelphia and Northern Virginia. The acquisition brought Morgan Properties’ Pennsylvania portfolio to 10,000 units and its total unit count to more than 50,000 units for the first time since its inception in 1985. Spearheaded by Morgan, the multifamily transaction was the largest in Philadelphia to date and expanded the company’s already growing presence in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

As a Greater Philadelphia award winner, Morgan is now eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2019 National Awards. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards gala in Palm Springs, CA on Nov. 16.
