New Augmented Reality App Helps Owners Curate Artwork

Morison Hotel Gallery launches an augmented reality app to virtually create art galleries and accessory selections.

Augmented reality is quickly becoming a favorite tool for developers and property owners, who can use the technology to curate and visualize spaces and interior design decisions before making an expensive investment. Morrison Hotel Gallery, which has said that augmented reality is becoming popular in commercial design, launched the Morrison Hotel Gallery app for art and gallery spaces in buildings. The new app helps owners virtually hand and choose artwork to see how it impacts a space.

“Utilizing an app such as the Morrison Hotel Gallery app that allows users to virtually curate their own art galleries and accessory selections and view each piece in an interior space before purchasing, is a major shortcut to the design process,” Casey Fannin-Kaplan, who created and designed the Morrison Hotel Gallery app, tells GlobeSt.com.

Artwork in general has become an important element in creating experiential spaces for today’s users in every asset class from office and multifamily to hospitality. “In commercial design and properties, the first thing customers and guests take in is the visual elements surrounding the spaces,” explains Fannin-Kaplan says. “For instance, in a hotel, images are everything when selecting where you will stay. From the hotel lobby to the communal spaces and the rooms themselves, design matters.”

The app digitizes Morrison’s collection of artwork so that owners can browse the collection and place artwork in their interior space to see how it fits in. “Everything we do and all of the products we supply at Morrison Hotel Gallery stems from a visual and inspirational place,” says Fannin-Kaplan. “When we launched the Morrison Hotel Gallery app and its augmented reality feature, we wanted users, who weren’t able to make it into our galleries, to have a platform where they could swipe through incredible one-of-a-kind photographs and view them on the walls of a bedroom, a restaurant, a hotel lobby, and beyond. The app is the perfect tool for design projects of all kinds, from commercial to hospitality, luxury residential and beyond – there’s something for everyone.”

The app is also a tool for developers and owners to use with their interior designer when making selections and curating the larger space. “With the Morrison Hotel Gallery app and its augmented reality feature, we are providing designers and property owners with a great tool to ensure that the photography, artwork, and design fits the target demographic without designers having to blindly purchase pieces before actually viewing them in the space,” adds Fannin-Kaplan.
