Los Angeles developers aretaking note of the Clement Canopy buildings in Singapore. The two40-story towers are the largest modular construction buildings inthe world, and set a new standard of the potential for modularbuilding. In Los Angeles, modular construction has the ability torevolutionize new construction, and the Clement Canopy buildingsare a great example of the possibilities.

“Los Angeles is a very expensive market to build in, with risingconstruction costs,” Aurelie Clereaux, head ofmodular construction at Bouygues BâtimentInternational, the construction company behind the ClementCanopy buildings, tells GlobeSt.com. “Modular solutions can helpaddress the challenge of rising costs and help tackle the issues oflabor shortages, as well as the need for fast delivery schedules.Because the construction timelines with modular buildings areshorter, there are also less interruptions to traffic andneighborhoods.”

While there is a tendency to link modular construction to hotelassets, modular construction is actually a fit for all assetclasses. “It is becoming easier every day to build more of themodules offsite and therefore limit the remaining work left to bedone onsite,” says Clereaux.
