AUSTIN, TX—Austin Energy has issued a $300,000 rebate, itslargest in 10 years, to Riata Corporate Park, an eight-building 61-acre office campus in North Austin, for retrofitting its airconditioning system, which cuts statewide electricity consumptionon the city's hottest days. Denise Kuehn, director of energyefficiency services for Austin Energy, says it's a major benefit tothe local environment.

“The air emissions saved by eliminating 423,097 kilowatt hoursis 226 metric tons of carbon dioxide,” Kuehn calculates. “This isthe equivalent of removing 43 cars driving 506,608 vehicle milesannually from our roadways or planting 5,820 trees or 291 acres offorest in Austin's parks.”
