HonorHealth is expanding its hospital network in North Phoenix. The brand is nearing completion of its sixth valley hospital in north Phoenix, HonorHealth Sonoran Medical Center. Located at Interstate 17 and Dove Valley Road, the property is 210,000 square feet with 40 inpatient beds, 24-hour emergency center for patients of all ages, minimally invasive orthopedic and spine services, a state-of-the-art surgical unit, and comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care with labor delivery services and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.

“HonorHealth Sonoran Medical Center has been in the planning stages for years, starting with the Sonoran Health and Emergency Center, a free standing emergency department with medical imaging services, which opened in 2013,” Kimberly Post, EVP and COO of HonorHealth, tells GlobeSt.com. “We ultimately planned to build a hospital when the community need demanded it. Having served over 17,000 patients at Sonoran Health and Emergency Center in the last year alone, that time is now.”

Phoenix is among the fastest growing markets in the country, and there is rising demand for new hospital and healthcare facilities. The north Phoenix market in particular is seeing strong growth. “The community along the I-17 corridor in North Phoenix continues to grow,” says Post. “In late 2017 HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center became a Level 1 Trauma center and the number of patients served at Deer Valley Medical Center continues to increase. As part of HonorHealth’s long-term vision, Sonoran Medical Center is a natural part of HonorHealth’s growth.”

The hospital will increase access to healthcare in North Phoenix, Anthem and North Peoria. There is a community demand for obstetrical services, HonorHealth is please to respond to this demand by bringing comprehensive care for women to the Sonoran Medical Center Campus. This program will support the needs of new and growing families throughout this area,” says Post. “In addition to bringing high quality healthcare services close to home, the new hospital will bring jobs and volunteer opportunities.”

While the HonorHealth Sonoran Medical Center is the latest iteration of HonorHealth’s long-term vision for the property and to provide healthcare services to the market. It includes physician offices, ambulatory surgery center, patient education and outreach and integrative health services. “The medical center has been designed to create a healing environment where patients and their families can feel welcome and relaxed. Filled with natural light and beautiful mountain views, the hospital will partner with the surrounding desert to provide a peaceful, healing atmosphere,” says Post. “Leveraging the success of the other HonorHealth Medical Centers, the Sonoran Medical Center will create access to high quality healthcare delivered by exceptional physicians, nurses, and other professionals.”
