Bonnie Lowenthal Elected New Harbor Commission President

The commission oversees the Port of Long Beach and the staff of the City’s Harbor Department.

The Harbor Commission has elected Bonnie Lowenthal as its new president. Lowenthal will lead the commission, which oversees the Port of Long Beach and the staff of the City’s Harbor Department. She will serve a one-year term.

Lowenthal has served as a former state assemblywoman, city councilwoman, vice mayor and Long Beach Unified School District Board member. She has also worked as a licensed family counselor and mental health consultant.

In addition, the commission has also elected Frank Colonna as VP and Lou Anne Bynum as secretary of the Harbor Commission. Each will also serve a one-year term once they step into the role on August 12.
