Construction is set to begin next week on the new 13-story, 270,000-square-foot office building at 320 N. Sangamon in the Fulton Market section of the city.

The new office building at 320 N. Sangamon will raise Tishman Speyer’s holdings in Chicago to more than 8.5 million square feet.

CHICAGO—Tishman Speyer has unveiled plans for its latest office project here and says it will turn the first dirt on the venture on Sept. 26.

Construction is set to begin next week on the new 13-story, 270,000-square-foot office building at 320 N. Sangamon in the Fulton Market section of the city.

New York City-based Tishman Speyer and its co-developer, Chicago-based Mark Goodman & Associates, plan to have the property ready for occupancy by the first quarter of 2021.

320 Sangamon will be the latest addition to Tishman Speyer’s significant Chicago real estate portfolio, which includes The Franklin and CME Center and totals more than 8.5 million square feet of office space.

The building, which will feature floor plates ranging from 25,000 to 28,000 square feet with 13-foot heights, has been designed to attract technology-oriented space users in a commercial neighborhood already being rapidly transformed, with major brand names nearby that include Google, WPP Group, the Ace Hotel and Shake Shack.

Employees of tenants at 320 N Sangamon will enjoy access to ZO, Tishman Speyer’s offering of lifestyle services and experiences that is proving to be popular at properties throughout the firm’s portfolio.

The project architect is Solomon Cordwell Buenz, which is based in Chicago. Ellen May and Joe Gordon of Tishman Speyer are the project’s leasing representatives.

Tishman Speyer made news earlier this week when it was reported that Amazon will add 400 new tech jobs to its Tech Hub operations in Downtown Chicago. The e-commerce giant will be adding 70,000 square feet of space at The Franklin office building in Downtown Chicago, which is owned by Tishman Speyer.

The firm has acquired, developed and operated a portfolio of more than 175 million square feet with a total value of approximately $94 billion spread over 411 assets. Signature assets include New York City’s Rockefeller Center, São Paulo’s Torre Norte, The Springs in Shanghai, Lumière in Paris and OpernTurm in Frankfurt. Tishman Speyer currently has projects at different stages of development in Boston, Beijing, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, Madrid, New York City, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco, São Paulo, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Washington, DC. The firm also operates portfolios of office properties in Berlin, Paris, London, as well as Chicago.
