Capital One Appoints New Head of Commercial Real Estate

Previous CEO of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corp., Jamie Henderson will join the firm as EVP in 2020.

NEW YORK – Capital One has appointed a new executive vice president and head of commercial real estate. Jamie Henderson will join the firm in the new position in January 2020.

Henderson holds nearly 20 years of experience within the space as a lender and investor across multiple assets classes, with both private and public companies.

Most recently, he served as a partner and the head of real estate debt at Ares Management Corporation, and as CEO of Ares Commercial Real Estate Corporation. Prior to joining Ares in 2017, Henderson held various leadership positions at Barings Real Estate Advisors, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisors and Babson Capital Management.

Henderson additionally served as an officer in the United States Navy for six years, working in engineering, operations and as a navigator. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

In his new role with Capital One, Henderson will report directly to the firm’s president of commercial banking and Northeast market president, Michael Slocum.
