Cushman & Wakefield Hires CBRE Vet to Lead New Advisory Platform

Cushman & Wakefield has hired Michael Movshovich, formerly of CBRE, as executive managing director to lead its new Alternative Investment Advisory Group in New York, a division managing leasing and operations for clients that include hedge funds and private equity firms.

NEW YORK CITY – Cushman & Wakefield has hired Michael Movshovich as an executive managing director to lead its new Alternative Investment Advisory Group in New York, a division managing leasing and operations for clients that include hedge funds and private equity firms.

Movshovich joins Cushman from CBRE after working for the company for 12 years. In his new role, he will use his experience with clients in the private equity, venture capital, and hedge fund sectors to lead Cushman’s new platform to advise and service that clientele for their business and real estate needs.

“These companies are a unique group in how they work,” Lou D’Avanzo, managing principal of Cushman in Manhattan, tells GlobeSt.com. “They’re sophisticated, smart and demanding clients and are in the finest real estate in major cities across the world. It’s our goal to put the clients at the center of things, and find innovative ways to deliver for them.”

The Alternative Investment Advisory Group is a part of Cushman’s Industry & Specialty Advisory Group. The platform provides different specializations across more than 20 sectors to keep pace with changing needs as various industries evolve and grow in the city, according to Toby Dodd, president of the tri-state region for Cushman.

The bar is set high for Movshovich.  He will join Cushman’s Bruce Mosler on a team that closed more than 150 deals totaling over 5 million square feet in 2019.

Movshovich’s past and existing clients include corporate institutions, technology, advertising, public relations and other media companies. His experience also includes spin-offs from larger parent organizations, the development and implementation of leasing strategies for multiple leading landlords in New York City, including real estate investment trusts and family offices.
