Market Research Firm Inks First Lease at Former Marshall Field Building

24 E. Washington, Chicago

CHICAGO—Market research firm Numerator has signed on as the first tenant at Brookfield Properties’ 24 E. Washington building here.

The firm will occupy more than 60,000 square feet of the former Marshall Field & Company’s building sometime this year. Numerator is the first confirmed tenancy after New York City-based Brookfield Properties announced its multi-million-dollar investment on the top six floors of the historic landmark that houses Macy’s on its first seven levels. The project will add 650,000 square feet of office space to the property.

Numerator will utilize the space as its new global headquarters. The company reports the space will accommodate Numerator’s planned increase from its current 250 Chicago-based workforce to more than 350 by 2022. The new jobs will focus on advanced data analytics solutions and leading digital technologies.

“24 East Washington was a clear choice for our global headquarters,” Numerator CFO Regan Garrett says. “The building’s size and dramatic space give us design efficiency while creating an environment where people will want to gather. The location makes it easy for employees to commute anywhere in the city and beyond, and it includes a first-class building amenity package. It’s an ideal place to attract and retain the talent we need to continue to grow.”

The amenity package in the building will feature a 40,000-square-foot fitness center, a 10,000-square-foot rooftop garden, a tenant amenity lounge and a conferencing center. Other renovations to the building include a new lobby, 14 new elevator banks and an upgraded base building designed with LEED Silver certification requirements in mind.

“Numerator is exactly the type of tenant we had in mind when we worked with Brookfield Properties to develop the building’s repositioning strategy,” remarked Jack O’Brien, SVP of The Telos Group, LLC. “We knew this building was a golden opportunity, and that opportunity has begun to come to fruition even before construction in the building is complete.”

Renovations at the building are scheduled to be complete in June 2020.

Jason Schulz and Richard Schulz from the brokerage, The J. Rich Company LLC, represented Numerator in the lease agreement. Charlie Greene Studio is leading the architecture and design functions of the project. BIG Construction is leading the build out of the space.

24 East Washington has some of the largest floorplates available in the city, ranging from 105,000 square feet to 120,000 square feet.
