JERSEY CITY, NJ—After a Board of Education audit last yearcontended the city was and its school district were not collectingmillions of dollars in revenue due to inaccurate Payment in Lieu ofTaxes (PILOT) assessments, the city will be moving forward with anaudit of its own.

Jersey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop has announced that the City ofJersey City will be moving forward with hiring auditors to reviewall historical PILOT agreements per the recommendation of the Boardof Education forensic audit. City officials say the audit willensure the city is receiving the maximum amount of revenueaccording to each individual PILOT agreement and any additionalrevenue found will be transferred to the Board of Education.
