OAKLAND, CA—Dealing another blow to an economy already sufferingfrom health-related causes, Kaiser Permanente has scrubbed its $900million 29-story headquarters project, GlobeSt.com learns. Kaiser'sproject was expected to generate an estimated $23 million inone-time taxes and fees on top of another $15 million in annualtaxes.
Oakland's largest private employer was planning to relocateapproximately 7,000 employees from seven East Bay offices into the1.6 million-square-foot office tower. But for now, Kaiser plans tostay put.
