BROWARD COUNTY, FL⁠—Charlotte, North Carolina-based Wastequip, a manufacturer of steel and plastic products to collect, handle and transport waste and recyclables, has leased nearly 40,000 square feet in the Pompany Business Center II. The lease brings the approximately 133,800-square-foot building to full occupancy less than one year after opening. Cushman & Wakefield's Industrial Team negotiated the lease with building owner and developer IDI Logistics.

"Wastequip was exploring options from I-595 to Pompano Beach for distribution purposes to service the Tri-County area," Cushman & Wakefield's Matthew G. McAllister, who represented Wastequip in the lease negotiations, tells GlobeSt.com. "This particular site included turnpike frontage, excess truck parking, speculative office that was ready for occupancy, and the ability to service clients from Jupiter to Miami with immediate access to the Florida's Turnpike and I-95."

Wastequip employs more than 2,400 people in North America at 44 facilities and encompasses the ConFab brand. Pompano Business Center II is the company's second location in Florida and first in South Florida. The company's brands include Wastequip, Toter, Galbreath, Pioneer, Mountain Tarp, Cusco, Go To Parts, Amrep and Accurate. The company opened another distribution center in January near Lexington, Kentucky. Pompano Business Center II was developed in 2019 on an approximately 11.43-acre parcel located at 3001 West Copans Road. The building features built-to-suit office space, 32-foot clear heights, 92 auto parking spaces, 38 trailer stalls, 30 dock-high doors, two drive-in doors and a 130-foot truck court.

"Build-outs in Broward County are running in the six month range, so immediate occupancy was an added bonus," McAllister said.

Cushman & Wakefield is also the exclusive leasing advisor for IDI Logistics' Rock Lake Business Center, currently under development just north of Pompano Business Center II at 3250 West 33rd Street. Rock Lake Business Center will comprise four Class A industrial buildings offering frontage on Florida's Turnpike and 32-foot clear ceiling heights. Two of the four buildings are ready for occupancy.
