Kaufman Organization Acquires Midtown South Mixed-Use Property

The Kaufman Organization has acquired 56 West 22nd St., a 66,190-square-foot boutique office and retail property in the Flatiron District for $48.5 million. Jones Lang LaSalle arranged the transaction for the 12-story property.

NEW YORK CITY- The Kaufman Organization has acquired 56 West 22nd St., a 66,190-square-foot boutique office and retail property in the Flatiron District for $48.5 million. Jones Lang LaSalle arranged the transaction for the 12-story property. 

The Kaufman Organization acquired the property from the Blum Family. The building was constructed in 1907, which Maynicke & Franke designed, and totals 66,190 square feet. On the ground and lower floors are 6,471 square feet of retail space and 47 feet of retail frontage, and on the second through 12 floors are 59,719 square feet of office space.

Situated on Fifth and Sixth avenues, the property is in proximity to the Flatiron Building and Madison Square Park. In recent years, the Flatiron District has emerged as one of the most sought after neighborhoods in the city, attracting droves of technology companies. Nearby 56 West 22nd St. are the 1, 6, D, M, R, W and PATH trains.
