SAN JOSE—Eric Fox, executive managing director in Cushman & Wakefield’s San Jose office, was recently inducted into the Association of Silicon Valley Brokers/ASVB Hall of Fame, one of two professionals inducted each year. The ASVB Annual Awards recognizes various categories of Silicon Valley commercial real estate activity.

Fox has been a member of the ASVB since 1997 and served on its board for seven years including serving as 2010/2011 president. He’s also earned some of the association’s top awards during his career including Rookie of the Year (1997), R&D Broker of the Year (2002) and Investment Broker of the Year (2015). During his more than 20-year career, Fox has transacted roughly $8 billion in sales and leases, comprising more than 30.6 million square feet of building sales and 6.3 million square feet in leasing, plus more than 100 acres sold.

“The incredible culture of our industry in Silicon Valley I observed when I started my career continues to survive and thrive,” says Fox. “While we are naturally competitive with each other, ours is also a small community wherein we ultimately help each other make deals, make a living and raise our families. Our community is tremendously collaborative and the ASVB is a major reason why. It was my absolute privilege and honor to serve on its board for many years. I believe strongly in the organization’s mission and hope many brokers involved in the ASVB will consider devoting time in their career to this board.”

Active in his community, Fox has also worked on the boards of several nonprofits and public entities. He has also served on the boards of the YMCA in San Jose, Hillbrook School in Los Gatos and currently NAIOP Silicon Valley. Fox served on the parks commission in the Town of Los Gatos and was its chair in the final year of his three-year term.

Proceeds from ASVB’s awards are donated to selected charities that are recognized for life-changing efforts in assisting those in need throughout the Silicon Valley. These organizations all serve the local community and are dependent upon financial support from groups such as the ASVB in order to carry out their work. All of sponsorship proceeds from the ASVB awards event are donated to several organizations including the Ronald McDonald House and Second Harvest Food Bank, GlobeSt.com learns.

“ASVB is a critically important part of the Silicon Valley commercial real estate community,” Fox tells GlobeSt.com. “There literally is nothing like it anywhere else in the world. By promoting standards of ethical conduct, cooperating in supporting industry education and other efforts, and making substantial charitable donations, ASVB promotes a collegial culture in our industry that helps make the entire community much more successful. ASVB is close to being a 50 year-old organization and has donated millions of dollars to deserving local charities. The organization has an admirable mission, and I hope it continues to show leadership for years to come.”

Cushman & Wakefield was also a winner in several other ASVB categories. The firm’s Steve Horton was awarded the Office/R&D Broker of the Year, Walt Stephenson was awarded Industrial-Procuring Broker of the Year and Mike Thompson was recognized in two categories for his work representing landlords and tenants winning Most Listings and Most Procuring Broker of the Year, both awards based on number of deals represented. Other recent Cushman & Wakefield members inducted into the ASVB Hall of Fame include Todd Beatty (2015), Kalil Jenab (2014), Mike Connor (2012) and Steve Horton (2010).
