In an industry that has long been considered a "boys club," theaccomplishments and efforts of women in commercial real estate arebeing increasingly acknowledged today.

With more women entering the space and assuming leadershippositions, companies are identifying the need for diversity inrelation to growth. Organizations are implementing an increasednumber of committees dedicated to such objectives, such as internal women's networks, gender equality hiring initiatives,diversity groups, etc. Just last year, REBNY established its firstever diversity committee in efforts to examine the lack of women andpeople of color in commercial real estate. In addition, IREMemployed a diversity and inclusion succession initiative; offering ascholarship program and matching professionals with industrymentors.
