For Ethan Penner, CEO and co-founder of Mosaic Real EstateInvestors, each investment cycle has its own tempo. That knowledgecan provide comfort in times of great upheaval.
"For those of us who have been through a couple of [distressedcycles], you could figure where they are going to fall out," Pennersays. "They're all different. But they also have a certain kind ofmarket psychology that tends to resemble similar ones, and youcould imagine how they're going to play out."
Even though recessions are distinct, it would have been hard topredict the situation we're in today. "There's never been adistress cycle caused by a virus," Penner says. "So that makes thisone unique."
